Meet Your Coach, Jeanine
I help students tell their stories with clarity and confidence. My focus is on encouraging students to develop high-level skills with friendly coaching.
I attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education where I earned a Master of Education Degree. I also earned degrees in classical music performance and teaching from Rice University and the Cleveland Institute of Music at Case Western Reserve University. In my thirty years of experience teaching music and the performing arts, I have dedicated my professional efforts to the development of student talent.
I have spent my career as a teacher nurturing students to become self-directed lifelong learners. My favorite part of teaching is helping students discover what ignites their enthusiasm so they can put their heart and soul into achieving their goals. If I can connect with students and help them see how to build on their strengths, they take that confidence and run with it. As a writing coach, my goal is the same— to develop students’ abilities to communicate their unique stories with their authentic voice and perspective. I now work with students who are applying to a wide variety of college programs including math, engineering, and medicine. I have assisted students this year with successful admissions to both private universities (Columbia University) and public universities (University of Rochester).
For the last five years I have interviewed high school students applying for admission to Harvard. It has been very inspiring to meet and learn about so many highly motivated young people. This has also given me a unique view into the way top schools evaluate candidates. I can now use that perspective to help you open doors to your future.
I am based on the West Coast (Pacific Time) and work individually with students in person, over video chats, and through shared documents. We can collaborate in real time no matter where you’re located. Let’s talk about how we can encourage the young person in your life to write with enthusiasm!

Why put willow in the name? Willows are fast growing, resilient trees. They can grow an entirely new tree from a single branch! Willow College Prep is named for these special qualities of growth, flexibility, and resilience.
